Cocktails and creativity in Cairns

Last weekend Gail Pan and I ventured up to warmer weather to thaw out with a lovely group of ladies and to stitch and share…photo 3

Wow, they are productive up there! – every available table was full of samples of our patterns before we even opened our suitcases.

As you can see it was held at the Rydges Tradewinds right on the Esplanade in the middle of town.. what a location…

The view from our room was pretty special…

The event was hosted by Kate of Button Tree Quilts and Colleen of Sewing Essentials Mareeba. They had done a lovely job of table decorations, little goodies and extras in their bags, the whole day was a buzz of excitement.

photo 34Colleen showed us her work in progress – the Truly Aussie quilt made in Leesa Chandler’s Under the Australian Sun fabrics – it really is going to look fantastic in this Aussie colourway and Colleen will be running this as  BOM program.

Kate had her kits prepared to launch a ‘Besties’ Block of the Month Program – I haven’t actually shown you this new range yet but will do so very soon, so Kate is getting in early.
